"We do not stop playing because we grow old,
we grow old because we stop playing."
- Oliver Wendell Holmes

If you need help getting started, wander through this list and pick one or two suggestions to try. Let these examples inspire you to make your own list!

You will find that you will need a variety of ways to play. For example, if you have had lots of meetings or have been doing hard labor, you may choose a quiet activity like coloring or playing with play dough. If you have been looking for a needle in a haystack or sitting in front of a computer all day, you may choose flying a kite, roller-blading, or another more active way to play.

I love flying a kite! I love watching the sense of freedom it has even though it is tethered to a string. What gives you a sense of freedom?

Above all, ask your Joyful Spirit what would nurture and energize it. Then, just do it with every cell of your being!

Let's take a stroll down memory lane!
You can choose any of these ideas or come up with your own!

I think of life itself now as a wonderful play that I've written for myself, and so my purpose is to have the utmost fun playing my part.

-- Shirley MacLaine

I will not play at tug o'war.
I'd rather play at hug o'war,
Where everyone hugs
Instead of tugs,
Where everyone giggles
And rolls on the rug,
Where everyone kisses,
And everyone grins,
And everyone cuddles,
And everyone wins.

-- Shel Silverstein

It is a happy talent to know how to play.

-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
