THE INSPIRATION TIMES
January 2007 Issue

********************************************
This month's topic:
“What's working
vs What's not working"
.

********************************************

Whew, I am so happy to re-focus my attention this morning! You see I have been in excavation mode. I have had my pickaxe and hardhat with the light on it and I have been digging and digging. Then I noticed. "Hey wait a minute am I living my life?" I have been hell bent on digging out everything in my life that is not working. While that is a lofty practice, it is where I am feeding all of my energy. And the law of attraction…well it is loading me up with an equal amount to excavate.

Along with the intense excavation, I have been avoiding. I recognized the avoiding and I have been pushing against it with all of my might, which of course just feeds the avoidance.

As I sat down with my journal this morning, I wrote across the top of the page What's working vs. What's not working. And as an act of avoidance, I got up and checked my email. Gracing my inbox was my friend Lissa Ann Forbes's Newsletter. Guess what it was about? Yep, Procrastination, Avoidance, and Dancing. (Lissa writes a fabulous newsletter and see the link to her newsletter in the body of the email if you would like to read it:

After I read her newsletter, I smiled and walked back to my chair and my journal. As I sat down, the sun burst through the clouds and I felt the same radiance burst forth within me and my crusty shell crumbled down around my chair.

All of my attention has been on what is not working. When I pause and think about my life, there is way more working than not working. In fact, my life is beautiful. My experience has been and continues to be that if there is an issue to address, it comes to my attention. Just like Lissa's newsletter arriving, my guidance always arrives just when I need it. Pushing against the avoidance just gave it more power. I have now asked it to dance. Sometimes the avoidance is guidance to slow down and take a look at where we are investing our energy.

It is all perfect and I don't regret the avoidance and excavation. It has re-affirmed for me to be present and intentional with where I invest my energy. It reminds me to call time out if I feel like I am pushing the river to make sure I truly want to push the river. Ecclesiastes 3 says, "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven."

It is all good my friends and we always get to choose how and where we focus our energy and intention every minute of every day.

With deep gratitude for all in my life,

Terri
